Oh, hello!

I really should update this journal more often but I just don't do anything pokemon-related like I used to. The love for Munchlax won't be dying any time soon though...
munchlax: (Default)
Ahhhh! Can't wait for the games... That is all.

Oh, I'll most likely pick White though.

That is all.

DSi XL

Wow, been awhile since I posted. I know that Metallic Blue DSi came out on Black Friday but I decided not to get it because I found out about the DSi XL that came out in Japan. Judging from the colors, I don't think metallic blue will come out on that but what I do like is how much bigger it is.

I'm going to hold out and wait for fifth generation. If it is DSi-exclusive or has features that only work on DSi yet plays on DS, I'll jump for the DSi XL, totally. :D
munchlax: (Journey)
Hmmm... Reading about DSi rumors that White and Pink DSi are to come out in September, I'm a bit discouraged. Where's metallic blue? I really do hope it'll come out. Please! If not, well, I really don't want to buy a DSi since I have the DS lite.

Looks like they released the english version of the logo:
Nintendo dates Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver for North America

I suspected it would come out in Spring, similar to Diamond/Pearl and all. Exciting news! None of it has encouraged me to get a DSi yet though. I'm still firm on my decision that I would only buy a DSi if it comes out in Metallic Blue. I'm tired of the black or white handholds for now.

I'm kind of on the fence about whether or not to buy Explorers of Sky. I do plan on getting Professor Layton and the Curious Village / Diabolic Box. Not sure which but... It's something to think about!

In no time, I was on my way to a mountain of white-colored rocks. I used Dive on the deeper parts of the water in order to reach a cavern to enter Sootopolis. As soon as I surface, I gasped at the sight of two large legendary pokemon battling each other. Groudon and Kyogre were slamming into each other!

I spot Maxie and Archie nearby. They're trying to catch the attention of the two large legendaries. No such luck. I then find Steven. He leads me to Cave of Origin. I am to go inside and find Wallace. In no time, I find him. He tells me there's another pokemon named Rayquaza that can calm the two ancient pokemon. I am to head out and find the Sky Pillar where he sleeps.

Immediately I leave Sootopolis and I surf (To be honest, all the water routes are the same to me so I don't know what routes I took) until I find the Sky Pillar. As soon as I get on land, Wallace appears and apologizes for leaving me behind in his haste. He unlocked the door of Sky Pillar. On our way in, earthquakes are happening and the weather distortion reaches our location. Wallace tells me he must head back to Sootopolis to keep an eye on things. I am to forge on ahead. I waste no time as I run to the top of the tower. Rayquaza awakens and flies way!

I quickly fly back to Sootopolis just in time to see Rayquaza come down from the skies to deal with Kyogre and Groudon! He roars at them and they depart... Rayquaza lets out one loud shriek and is gone! The weather calms....

I head over to Wallace and he tells me to hear what the leaders of Team Magma and Aqua have to say. Bleh. I listen to both Maxie and Archie but the idiots seem to laugh the whole ordeal off and depart. Hah. I then received HM move Waterfall from Wallace as thanks for saving the world! Then he tells me that in order to use it out of battle, I have to get the 8th Gym badge.

The Sootopolis Gym is right there so I decided to head right on in. Why not? It's Leader Juan! He said he was here to make a comeback! Do do do do do do... He whips out his beloved pokemon; Luvdisc, Whiscash, Sealeo, Crawdaunt, and Kingdra. All were defeated! I won the Rain Badge! This means I have full obedience of all pokemon. This badge, as you already know, also allows HM move Waterfall to be used outside of battles.

It appears I have to head east and face ... The Victory Road.

I got word that there's a Shoal Cave up north so I head there to catch myself a Spheal since I'll need to replace Heidi the Zigzagoon with a pokemon that knows HM move Dive. In no time, I was able to catch a Spheal and name him Sphealeron after a friend of mine. I also taught him Rock Smash since Heidi knew the move and I'm sure I'll need it again. I soon receive a call from May. She was in Pacifidlog and said she saw a giant green pokemon flying high in the sky! I figured she was being silly. Ha!

Recalling what Captain Stern said, I knew I had to get to Route 128 to find this cave. I head south down to Route 127 and then onto Route 128. I spotted a donut-shaped island and knew the cave had to be in the area. I dive and spot the entrance! I was now in Seafloor Cavern. I guess Archie came with a small crew this time because I only had to fight a few Team Aqua Grunts before I reached Aqua Admin Shelly and a grunt of her own. Of course, I beat them both.

I entered a foggy room and made my way to a small lake where I could see Kyogre sleeping. "Hold it right there!" shouts Archie before he joins me. Without a warning, he challenges me! With a yawn, I take out his pokemon. If that wasn't enough, I had to listen to him go on and on about using the power of the Red Orb to make Kyogre - Oh my! The Red Orb glowed on its own and before we both knew it, Kyogre woke and disappeared! Suddenly an alert came to Archie through his PokeNav. According to his members on the surface, it was raining far harder than they ever envisioned and they were in danger!

If that wasn't enough, Maxie caught up to us and was practically shaking Archie by the shoulders to make him realize that they were both wrong! We head up to the surface just in time to see the weather all in chaos. Rain and lightning interchanged with bright sunlight, back and forth, back and forth! There was no end! Maxie and Archie decide they must team up and correct their mistakes so they both scurry away.

I was surprised to see Steven join me. He's concerned and believes all of Hoenn - No! The whole world will drown. He says the source is coming from Sootopolis and heads off to see what's going on. I knew I had to go there as well. I hopped onto Maya and we were off...

I arrive to Lilycove City and sneak into Aqua Hideout. I explore a bit, trying to gather everything I possibly can - such as a Master Ball! This'll be helpful to catch any lurking legendaries. Aqua Hideout is so much better than Magma Hideout. There aren't endless Geodudes attacking me here! I make my way to Aqua Admin Matt. After I beat him, he chuckles and says that while he was toying wth me, his leader Archie was able to leave via the submarine.

I leave the hideout and immediately notice the Wailord are gone. I head east along Route 124 until I hit Mossdeep City. While exploring this city, I spot Scott who informs me that the city is in an uproar about some weird letter and the space center. I enter the Space Center and find Steven. Apparently the space center received an intent-to-steal notice. Team Magma is after the rocket fuel. Steven tells me everything will be okay and I can go about my business.

With nothing else to do, I enter the gym. There's tons of switches, warps, and double battles. I love the double battles! At the end are the Gym Leaders Tate and Liza. Twins! It was quite a battle. All of my pokemon fainted - yes, including poor little Heidi the Zigzagoon while I had to revive Maya - but Maya was the only pokemon left and she saved the day. I won the Mind Badge! This badge enhances Sp. Atk and Sp. Def of my pokemon. It also allows me to use HM move Dive outside of battle.

After leaving the gym, I heal my pokemon up at the PokeCenter and wander around to find out what's next. Bam! I spot Maxie and a few of his Team Magma Grunts on their way to the Space Center. I quickly hurry over and enter. I dealt with the Team Magma Grunts on the first floor and head up to the second floor just to walk into THREE Team Magma Grunts. No problem. Each one was dealt with.

I spot Steven and Maxie in the corner of the room. I hurry over and hear Maxie explaining that he's there to take the rocket fuel to blow up the volcano and make it erupt now that Groudon was gone. Well... Heh... We weren't having this! Steven and I team up against Magma Leader Maxie and Magma Admin Tabitha. We made a pretty good team! We defeated Team Magma! Maxie begins to wonder if his goal to expand land mass is misguided - and by wondering this, he realizes that Team Aqua's expanding of the seas is just as misguided. He says he has things to think over and departs. Steven is thankful for the help and also departs.

I run out and wonder what else to do. I quickly head over to Steven's house and immediately he gives me HM move Dive! He says I earned it.

With the Magma Emblem in hand, I know I have to head back to Jagged Pass where I spotted the Team Magma Grunt standing in front of a boulder. I fly to Lavaridge Town and head to the Cable Car so's I can get to the top of Mt. Chimney and then down Jagged Pass. On my way down, there was a slight earthquake! The boulder was reacting to the Magma Emblem and it opened! Ah-hah!!! I shall sneak on in and see what lurks beyond here...

Now in Magma Hideout, I was subjected to a barrage of Self-Destructs by Geodudes as well as an endless supply of Team Magma Grunts. The base just seemed to go on and on with many rooms but I knew I was nearing the end when I faced Magma Admin Tabitha. I finally spotted Maxie standing in front of a sleeping Groudon in a lake of lava. With a cackle, he activated the Blue Orb. The blue glow filled the entire cavern and Groudon woke. Suddenly he disappeared and Maxie turned to me with a vicious snarl. He was convinced that *I* had something to do with the legendary's disappearance! What?? Before I knew it, he was challenging me but before HE knew it, I defeated him. He departs and I quickly rush out. Hmmm...

I fly back to Lilycove City and enter the Aqua Hideout. The two Team Aqua Grunts are still blocking the way. They inform me that their boss is in Slateport City ready to steal a submarine. I quickly whip out Musa and we're on our way to Slateport. As we land, I rush to the Slateport Harbor. At this time, the only exciting thing going on was that Interviewer Gabby was interviewing Captain Stern. After the interview, Captain Stern tells me they found a cavern on Route 128 and they believe it's the habitat of a pokemon that's said to have been long extinct.

Suddenly a voice echoes! It was Team Aqua alerting us that they were going to take control of the submarine. We both rush in and I spot Archie. "It's you again!" Archie snarls. He hops into the submarine and they disappear. NOW I know my next destination is back to Aqua Hideout to deal with Archie.

Now with HM move Fly, I decided to switch out Freida the Zigzagoon with Musa the Tropius and taught him Fly. Running through Route 120 and 121 was pretty uneventful until I spotted Team Aqua Grunts near a dock. I overheard them say that were heading out to Mt. Pyre.

I was finally in Lilycove City. I had a conversation with a friend about trying to deal with Shuppet on Route 121. I didn't want to use Isadora's psychic moves because I didn't want to risk the chance that one of them might pop up with Pokerus. He advised me to use my Kecleon.

After healing up my pokemon, I decided to switch out another Zigzagoon to bring in Leonhides the Kecleon since I'll need DARK moves to hit Shuppet. I flew to Fallarbor Town and had Leonhides re-learn Thief by the Move Tutor. While here, I handed the Meteorite to Professor Cozmo. I flew back to Lilycove City and explored. I spotted May in front of the Lilycove Department Store. She wanted a quick battle. She tossed out her Tropius, Grovyle, Slugma, and Pelipper. Needless to say, I beat her.

The Team Aqua's secret base is constantly mentioned at the cove. I head into their secret base but the Team Aqua Grunts are blocking the path. I can't go east onto Route 124 since the Team Aqua Grunts are training their Wailord, effectively blocking the way.

I head back onto Route 121 and jump into the water to head down Route 122 to make it into Mt. Pyre. I head out the side door and begin my climb up Mt. Pyre. I battle Grunt after Grunt until I bump into Archie himself at the very top! He says Maxie has already been through here but he himself has what he's been looking for! The Red Orb! He says his plan can finally go into action and they leave. The old couple are distraught and claim the orbs must never be separated! The old woman hands me a Magma Emblem and says it might help me out at some point in time.

After a nice rest, I leave the Weather Institute in the middle of a nasty lightning storm and head across the bridge to the east until I bump into May! She wants us to have a battle right in the middle of this storm. Why not? I easily beat her and she gives me HM move Fly. In order to use HM move Fly, I have to get the badge from Fortree Gym. Right after she leaves, Scott shows up and already he can guess that I won. He says the trainer that left had a very red face and looked angry about something. Ha!

With an amused saunter, I enter Fortree City. Right away I head to the Gym but something unseeable is in the way! I can't get to the Fortree Gym! Exploring Fortree City results in nothing interesting and no answers so I have no choice but to go east onto Route 120. Interviewer Gabby and her cameraman, Ty, is around again! Well, this certainly is inflating my ego some. I beat them and give them an interview before I continue on my way.

I cross a bridge and suddenly I spot Steven. I try to pass him but something unseeable is in my way again! What the heck is with this? I talk to Steven and he seems to know what's going on. He tells me to prepare for a battle! With my pokemon ready, he uses this strange item call "Devon Scope". Suddenly a pokemon was startled and attacks! It was a Kecleon! I work her HP down some and toss a pokeball at it. I heard about this pokemon. It's incredibly rare to find them. After successfully catching it, Steven compliments my method and hands me the "Devon Scope". This is the answer I've been looking for!

I rush right back to Fortree Gym and use the Devon Scope on this sneaky little Kecleon. I startle the Kecleon but instead of attacking, it flees into the woods. I enter and work the little maze out until I'm standing in front of Winona, Leader of the Fortree Pokemon Gym. This was quite a battle. Not only did Penelope and Isadora faint, Maya fainted at least once before I revived her. I beat Winona's pokemon and she rewards me with the Feather Badge! This means that pokemon up to level 70 will obey me without question. It also allows me to use the HM move Fly outside of battle!

As I leave the gym, I'm starting to think that maybe now is the time to put away the Zigzagoon and introduce more types. I already know I have to bring in a flying pokemon for HM move Fly. Suddenly I receive a call on my PokeNav. It's Scott! Somehow he knows I won at the Fortree Gym. He even says, "Perhaps you really are the trainer that I've been searching for." Wow....

I decided to teach HM move Surf to Maya. It's an incredibly useful move both in battles and across water. I head on home to Littleroot Town to visit Mother. She was proud of me after I showed her the badge I won from Dad! She gave me an Amulet Coin which helps me receive more money from battles.

I then took a quick detour to Rustboro in order to pick up an Exp. Share from Mr. Stone. While here, I took the Root Fossil to the Devon Researcher so that he could bring it back to life using his Fossil Regenerator. It turned out to be Lileep! While leaving, my mystery egg hatched! It was a Wynaut. I stuffed Wynaut into the PC and brought out Eloise the Zigzagoon.

I made my long trek to Mauville city so that I could go east onto Route 118 but I spotted Wattson!

Wattson the Mauville Gym Leader

He needed a favor and felt that I was the only one who could do it. Apparently Mauville City has an underground sector known as New Mauville. The generator is acting pretty funky and he needs me to go turn it off. He hands over the Basement Key and I'm on my way! After a barrage of Voltorb and Magnemite, I successfully shut down the generator. Wattson is extremely pleased and rewards me with a TM.

With that out of the way, I head east onto Route 118. Right away I am given a Good Rod. I spot Interviewer Gabby and her cameraman, Ty. A battle and an interview later, I'm on my way to the Berry Master's House. He gives me a couple berries, his wife gives me one, and um... I steal all the berries from the side of his house before I flee!

I quickly head north onto Route 119 and I trek through all the tall grass and trainers until I reach the Weather Institute. I am not surprised to find out that Team Aqua has a scientist for hostage here. I shove the Team Aqua Grunts aside and put Aqua Admin Shelly's pokemon down. Before anything else can happen, a Team Aqua Grunt rushed in and shoved me aside! Apparently a Team Magma mob was spotted! They were heading for Mt. Pyre! This causes great concern for Aqua Admin Shelly and they immediately depart.

The scientist was thankful. Extremely thankful enough that he gave me a Castform. I'm not sure what to do with it so I just have it stuffed in the PC. With such a busy day, I decided to sleep in a bed found on the first floor of this institute.

Gym Battles are fun! Har. So I head straight into Lavaridge Gym to deal with Gym Leader Flannery. Easier said than done. It's steamy and portals zap me everywhere. I finally reach the Gym Leader. She toses out Slugma, Numel, Camerupt, and Torkoal. :D Maya the Swampert took them all down. I won the Heat Badge! This means that pokemon up to level 50 will obey and that I can use the HM move Strength outside of battles.

As soon as I step out of the Lavaridge Gym, May shows up! She hands me Go-Goggles which will allow me to enter the Desert in Route 111. Exploring Lavaridge, I receive a free egg from a woman who thought warm sands would help it hatch faster but she decides that it'll hatch faster with a trainer. With nothing else to do, I head east onto Route 112 and then onto Route 111 to get to the desert.

Suddenly I spot a Mirage Tower and amble right on in. I hurry up the floors, sometimes having to use my Mach bike to make it over the cracks or using Rock Smash to clear the path. At the top were two mysterious fossils! I decided that the Root Fossil looked neat.. As soon as I wiggle it out of place, the whole tower comes crumbling down and the darn Claw Fossil disappeared into the sands.

After I got the sand out of my pants, the only clue I have left of where my pokemon journey is to go next, It's time for me to challenge my father of Petalburg Gym! I hop onto my speedy bike and I whoosh all the way down south to Mr. Briney waiting for me at Route 109. He dashes us off to Dewford and then the second leg to Petalburg. With a confident lift of my chin, I go marching into my father's gym. I deal with a challenger in each room until the last room where my father stands.

"Four Badges... Marcus," He says, "I will do my best and I expect you to do your best!" He tosses out Spinda! Defeated! Then Vigoroth! Defeated too! And then Linoone! I defeat that one too! And then he whips out the evil one... Slaking! It took some work but I took that big ol' nose-picking pokemon down! I won the Balance Badge! He says this will increase my pokemon's defense and will allow me to use the HM move Surf to travel over water. This was a real father/son moment... No tears!

... Then um.. Wally's father burst right in and drags me over to his house to give me HM move Surf. ... I guess that's forgivable. Sure. Why not...

As soon as I enter the PokeCenter, I notice a woman in green standing in front of the PC. I introduce myself and it turns out that she works on the Pokemon Storage System. Her name is Lanette. I explore Fallarbor Town. Nothing of value here except a Move Tutor. I head onto Route 114 and meet the Fossil Maniac. Shortly down the route, I enter Lanette's House and she gives me a little bribe to keep a secret!

It isn't long before I enter Meteor Falls and watch a scene unfold! Team Magma Grunts! They have cornered poor Professor Cozmo until Archie and his Team Aqua Grunts show up. Team Magma shoves by me and leaves. Archie follows after them. I go to console poor Professor Cozmo. Apparently Team Magma stole the Meteorite from him and they want to use it in a gizmadoodad on top of Mt. Chimney for some reason.

I head out the south entrance of Meteor Falls. Right away, I knew I had to go back to the lift where the Team Magma Grunts were blocking my path. This means heading down Route 115, through Rustboro City, Route 116, Rusturf Tunnel, Verdanturf Town, Route 117, Mauville City, Route 111, and at last... Route 112. Indeed the path to the Cable Car was free. I hop in and make my merry trip to the top!

Once on Mt. Chimney, I can't head south down to the Jagged Pass since a Team Magma Grunt and a Team Aqua Grunt are blocking the path by battling with their Poochyenas. By the way, I noticed that Team Magma Poochyenas say "Bufoh!" while Team Aqua Poochyenas say "Bushaa!". I head up north to the top of Mt. Chimney. Right away I spot Archie taking on three Team Magma Grunts at the same time.

I make my way by battling Team Magma Grunts as well as a Team Magma Admin Tabitha. Finally I reach Maxie himself! He's talking about awakening something that sleeps in the volcano. Ehhhhh, He claims I'll never understand it so he challenges me to a battle in order to get rid of me. Ha! I take down his Zubat, Mightyena, and Camerupt with utter ease and chase him away. Archie meets me and is pleased with my work before he leaves. I explore the little doodad and find that I can take the Meteorite. Why not? I take it.

With both teams out of the way, I can now head down Jagged Pass and into Lavaridge Town.

With nothing to do in Verdanturf except for a meaningless visit with Wally, I head into the Rusturf Tunnel. Right away I see Wanda and I use Rock Smash to unite her with the Tunneler. I went out the other end out of curiosity and got a Repeat Ball from the Devon Researcher. With nothing else to do, I make the long trek back to Mauville City and head north onto Route 111.

Right away I spot the Trainer Hill Entrance. It turns out that they're not ready for the public so I head over to the Winstrate Family and challenge the family. After easily taking care of the entire Winstrate Family, I get a Macho Brace from the mother. After thanking the family for some fun, I continue north and bump into Interviewer Gabby and her cameraman, Ty. A battle and an interview later, I head north.

The road becomes a fork. The right heads into a desert but the nasty sandstorm makes it impossible to go any further. I head left onto Route 112. Immediately there's another fork. Again, the right is blocked but this time by two Team Magma Grunts. I overhear them whisper about how their leader is at Fallarbor Town after a Meteorite. Nice clue there, idiots.

I had to take the left and enter the Fiery Path! On the other end, I hop onto Route 111 where I get TM Secret Power which can create secret bases! Ahhh, love this stuff. I head west onto Route 113. Whew, covered with lots of ash. I pick up a Soot Sack from the Glass Workshop. You gather a bunch of ash and the man there will turn the ash into flutes amongst other items.

Suddenly Maya evolves into a Swampert! Gotta love them Spindas for that final push. And now I find myself entering Fallarbor Town.

With nothing else to do in Slateport, I head north to Route 110. I bump into Professor Birch and we register each other on our PokeNav. There's a bunch of trainers here so it doesn't take long for Penelope to evolve into a Linoone!

There's a Trick House on this route where I met the Trick Master. I go through his little maze and battle trainers here too. I continue along Route 110 - which should be called "Paralysis Route" since my pokemon keep being paralyzed... - I meet May! She challenges me and I knock out all three of her pokemon: Wingull, Grovyle, and Slugma. She hands over a nifty item called Itemfinder. I quickly use it and find several hidden items. With the novelty of the item wearing off, I head to Mauville City.

I decide to hit the Mauville Gym straightaway since I'm feeling pretty confident. I beat the trainers and meet Wattson. I don't know why but I think Wattson is my favorite of all the Gym Leaders. He looks way jovial and I think that's pretty neat.

Wattson the Mauville Gym Leader

Wattson sends out Voltorb, Electrike, Magneton, and Manectric. All were easy to beat except for Manectric. It helped that Maya's Mud Slap killed Manectric's accuracy but after I ran out, I had to slowly whittle him down and dealt with Wattson potion'ing him a couple times. I win the Dynamo Badge! This badge makes my pokemon a little bit faster and allows me to use the HM move Rock Smash out of battles.

Exploring Mauville got me a free bike from Rydel and the HM move Rock Smash. I soon get a call from Wally which reminds me I have to head west to Verdanturf where he's currently at. I head onto Route 117 and quickly enter the Daycare Center. I decided to drop off an Aron and a Taillow just in case. You never know, right? I battle the trainers and wild pokemon - and surprise! Isadora evolves into Kirlia! Pretty soon, I arrive to Verdanturf Town.

As soon as I step out of the Devon Corporation building, I'm immediately stopped by one of the developers who decide to update my PokeNav with "Match Call". I was told to test it by calling Mr. Stone! With that out of the way, I head out of Rustboro but first I meet May. We register each other in our PokeNav and have a battle. I let Penelope have the honor this time and she did a good job of handling May's pokemon.

I quickly catch up to Mr. Briney's Cottage by the sea and before I know it, we're shooting along routes 105 and 106 to get to Dewford Town. I decided to get the Gym out of the way first. I meet Brawly and quickly put his Machop, Meditite, and Makuhita down. I won the Knuckle Badge! This means that pokemon up to level 30 obey me without question. I also am allowed to use the HM move Flash outside of battles.

I had to enter Granite Cave to deliver the letter to Steven. Right away I meet a nice hiker who gives me HM move Flash. I taught this move to Isadora to make our trek through the cave easier. In no time I was able to deliver the letter to Steven. I didn't like the idea of doing any training in the cave so I met up with Mr. Briney to go to Slateport City.

Right away I notice a big grouping of Team Aqua members stuffing up the entrance to the Museum. With no way to get in, I explore Slateport City. I saw the Market, Pokemon Fan Club, Name Rater... I find out that Captain Stern is in the Museum. I head back to the Museum and find that I can enter now. All the Team Aqua members are inside. Right away I bump into a Team Aqua Grunt that I dealt with earlier at Rusturf Tunnel. He balked and fled.

I found Captain Stern up on the second floor and just as I'm about to hand over the Devon Goods, two Team Aqua Grunts walk in and challenge me! Of course, Maya and I beat them up pretty good. Then... I got to meet the very leader of Team Aqua. Archie. He babbled something about Magma and told me not to interfere with Team Aqua. After Team Aqua's departure, I hand the Devon Goods to Captain Stern and he too departs.

As soon as I stepped out of the Museum, Scott showed up! He pretty much figures out that I'm the reason Team Aqua ran away and he was impressed. We register each other in our PokeNav before he leaves. I wonder what comes after now... I'm terribly uninterested in the 'Battle Tent Slateport Site' so I may just head north.

I decided to hit the Rustboro Gym right away. I knew that Maya would have no trouble dealing with Roxanne's two Geodude and a Nosepass. The Nosepass was annoying as heck because Roxanne kept potion'ing it over and over. Bleh. But! I won the Stone Badge! It heightens my pokemon's attack power and allows me to use the HM move CUT outside of battle.

With the gym battle out of the way, I explored Rustboro City. Before I could do that, I spotted a Team Aqua Grunt fleeing from the Devon Researcher. Eh... Back to exploring. I received the HM move CUT from the Cutter's House and used it to teach Penelope right away. I met a father who was fussing over his little girl, Walda, who refused to smile or laugh. Can you blame her? She was named after Waldo. Don't believe me? There were tons of plush surrounding her bed. I'm pretty sure her father loves "Where's Waldo?" and enjoyed his real-life version. I bet he brings people up and says, "Where's Walda? Ha ha."

I hit the local school but nothing special there except I got a Quick Claw from the teacher. I also met the man with the sunglasses again. It turns out his name is Scott and he's scouting for special trainers who have what it takes.

Well, let's get the inevitable out of the way. I find the Devon Researcher quivering at the edge of Rustboro City. Naturally he begs me to run off and get his Goods back. I head through Route 116 dealing with trainers and wild pokemon until I meet a man who tells me he was kicked out of his tunnel by a crazed lunatic. When I spot the tunnel, I find an old man there who says his pokemon, Peeko, was stolen! Gloves are off now! No one steals pokemon! I march right into the Rusturf Tunnel where I find a showboating Team Aqua Grunt and I smash him flat! The old man turned out to be Mr. Briney! With the Goods safely back in my hands, I head back to a very relieved Devon Researcher who takes me to the third floor of the Devon Corporation to meet his boss, Mr. Stone. Both of them want me to do favors for them. I have to deliver the Goods to a Shipyard in Slateport City and a letter to Steven in Dewford Town.

Mr. Stone however gave me an important item for my journey. A Pokemon Nagivator or PokeNav. It'll allow me to register challengers and keep track of my Pokemon. Nifty but not as helpful as a VS Seeker. My next stop is to visit Mr. Briney and ask him to take me to Dewford Town!

I don't know why but it seems to be quite normal for trainers to barge into homes all willy nilly and no one seems surprised! In fact, they all seem relaxed and more than willing to babble about anything. Once in awhile, you'll get a useful tidbit that'll help you on your journey. After I scoured the homes in Petalburg City, I decided to head off to my father's gym. Shortly after I entered the Petalburg Gym, a sickly frail child by the name of Wally wanders in and informs my father that he's staying with relatives in Verdanturf Town. The little green-haired kid wants a pokemon.

Of course, who does my father send out to help this kid? Me. I had to go follow Wally back to Route 102 and watch him catch a Ralts. Good thing I found one of my own or I'd be pre-tty jealous right about now. After that was done, my father informed me that I need to head to Rustboro City and challenge Roxanne at the Rustboro Gym so's I can get a Gym Badge. In fact, He says once I have a small collection of them, I can come back and challenge him.

I was just about to head west onto Route 104 when a weird man wearing sunglasses stops me. He mutters about me not being dirty enough or whatever and then walks away. Okay, whatever... I have to get to Rustboro City. This means a little trip through the Petalburg Woods. I'm traveling along, kicking butt of both wild pokemon and trainers when I stumble upon a man in green. I find out that he's a Devon Researcher. Suddenly this grunt appears and starts babbling about Team Aqua. Before I can slip away, the Devon Researcher cowers behind me and the Team Aqua Grunt challenges me. Of course, Maya and I did a good job of telling him to get lost. Suddenly... Maya evolves! She evolved into a Marshtomp! Dad would be pretty proud of me if he were here to see this!

With those two cowards out of the way, I exit the Woods and stop by a flower shop where I manage to get my hands on a Wailmer Pail. I beat a few more trainers and enter Rustboro City where I shall win my very first gym badge!

Pokemon Trainer Card

I left Littleroot Town and went to Oldale Town. I healed up Maya and immediately ran into the local PokeMart. I have heard way too many terrifying tales of people finding a shiny pokemon at this stage of their journey. Too bad the guy's out of poke balls...

I can't head west onto Route 102 due to some fanatic drooling over footprints of a rare pokemon so I head north to Route 103 where I soon meet May, the daughter of Professor Birch. Apparently she wanted to teach me a lesson about what it's like to be a trainer so she tosses out her Treecko for battle. Yeaaaah... no. Maya and I taught her the lesson of what it's like to be a trainer. Yeah. Haha.

We head back to her father's lab where he gives me a Pokedex that'll record every pokemon I see or catch. Nifty little doodad! May gives me five Poke Balls. I'll be grateful for that! Before I left Littleroot, my mother gave me Running Shoes to make my journey just a tad faster. I quickly return to Oldale Town to purchase more Poke Balls.

Next, I headed out west onto Route 102 where I am determined to catch five Zigzagoons. Their little racoon-like paws tend to pick up things. You do know about Zigzagoons and their PickUp ability, right? Very nifty and useful ability. However, while trying to catch Zigzagoons, I come across.... a Ralts. Yup. That was exciting. I dealt with the trainers, plucked some berries, and grabbed an item. So with a team of a Mudkip, Ralts, and four Zigzagoons, I reach Petalburg City.
